HUMAN CONNECTION PROJECT

The Human Connection Project is a not-for-profit social enterprise working to become Australia's largest proactive mental health and human connection lead organisation.

Our vision is to help and empower people to become more resilient and empathetic individuals with stronger connections to their community.

The act of connecting as human beings has diminished over the years due to the influx of incredibly busy lifestyles and greater time constraints, the false sense of connection we get from social media, and the rapid and constant change in the way we communicate with each other.

From this human disconnection, we have seen an incredibly alarming increase in mental illness, in particular, the issue of suicide. Social and human connection is fundamental, we not only need it to survive, we need it to thrive in life.

With nearly 800,000 people globally who died due to suicide last year and an estimated 10-25 attempts for every death (WHO, 2019), more needs to be done in the proactive fight to prevent mental illness and suicide.

The path to end suicide is long, and needs help and resources at every level. Our path is to connect the global community and empower people to engage, create and lead through human connection.

We are building a new initiative - The Global Movement - to kick start the largest PROACTIVE mental health management community. A community where we are open about our struggles, constantly learning from each other and feeling connected to our local and wider communities.

WALK & TALK WITH HCPF

A simple way to connect.

As a digitally connected society ware becoming more reliant on digital channels to facilitate and manage our connections. Social media event invites, shared calendars, work management platforms and an endless choice of messaging apps.

Our Walk & Talk events are set up to bring local communities together to connect and get to know about more than what is on the surface. Like everything in life, creating strong connections takes time and practice, and we are here to help.

Find out if there is a Walk & Talk near you, or get in touch if you would like to be involved.

Pillars of Human Connection

The Human Connection Project was founded by Matt Boyce who’s lived through his own struggles with mental illness since the loss of his best friend. He was able to use his experiences to drive the development of an initiative that empowers people to engage, create and lead through human connection. It’s the mission of The Project to promote learning and advocacy for proactive mental health solutions based on the three pillars central to Matt’s philosophy of human connection: empathy, leadership and empowerment.

Empathy

Empathy is the ability to put yourself in someone else's shoes. The difference between sympathy and empathy is in the actions that follow.

Leadership

Leadership is not your title. It is the ability to look to your left and to your right and ensure everyone is supported and encouraged in life.

Empowerment

Empowerment is the action of supporting your network or community members in their actions and endeavours. Regardless of your own beliefs.
